My mother and father were married in this  small church Basel Church in Jesselton 3 years after they first  met in 1949.She was twenty-three; he was thirty one

They did remain together for a lifetime, and more then that,  they remain next to each other while rest in peace. (See : Cemetery of Wong Syak Kee and Liew Soon Tshing)

After this grand wedding the following two years were probably the most miserable for my Mum since my father had on job. I remember Maternal Grandmother said in reply to my inquiries question how she know and married him ".....Than time your father worked in a bank........but unknowing that he resigned from job to get married........."

It took him 2 years to finally found a job far away from home town Jesselton in another town Kuching as a government clerk.

How much they love each other I couldn't tell. In front of the family they never displayed outwardly their affectionate.  From these old faded photo I saw they so lovingly hand in arms, in real live I never saw them, except once, hand in hand again.   And I still remember that romantic moment of them.... it was  195? I was about 4 years old. ......

All relative close to our family knew the family life between two of them was not a harmonious one. But the marriage did not break off (again thank to the old Chinese tradition on marriage bondage). Kee and Tshing married forever as they promised on that day 8-11-1952 and RIP together.
